In 1962, Martin
Luther Church purchased the building, which had been erected in 1955 and
was known as the Lakeshore Gospel Temple. Over the decades, the building
has undergone considerable extensions and changes to accommodate
Lutheran church life. A major step was the beautification in 2003, two
years before the 50 th
anniversary of the Martin Luther Congregation, by installing a set of 20
stained glass windows (Red Dala Glassworks). Since then, the colourful
façade with the red cross is a landmark within a neighbourhood that is
in a revitalization process.
The Martin Luther Church is a small but vibrant church,
which combines faithfulness to her German roots with openness for a
modern diversity. It is proud to serve the local community by providing
day care for 72 children.
Martin Luther
Church is part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada (ELCIC) and
the Protestant Church of Germany (EKD) and has many excellent
relationships to organizations and faith communities in the area.
Visitors will be able to enjoy modern stained glass
windows, which were produced with an exceptional variety of glass in the
colours of the rainbow. Darker coloured windows with violet glass in the
back of the church becoming brighter towards the altar. The windows have
motives that symbolize the church year and various aspects of church
life. Explanations to symbols will be provided.

Martin Luther Church Day Care
Martin Luther Church Day Care Our child daycare is a small centre which offers a family type, personalized
atmosphere and full-day programs to children.
We have
72 spaces for children from the ages of 18 months to 12 years.
We deliberately chose to remain a small facility to create a
comfortable and warm environment to which children can adjust quickly and
where they feel safe, secure and happy. We believe that a child learns
through play. Therefore, we provide a child-centred program with a "learning
by doing" approach. All our fulltime teachers have recognized Early
Childhood Education (E.C.E.) diplomas. Our staff members guide children
through the stages of physical, emotional, cognitive and social growth by
exposing them to: physical exercise, arts and crafts, story reading,
supervised naps, singing, educational toys, etc. We provide an
understanding, loving, challenging and intriguing place for your child to
learn and grow.
